The summer camp program offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to participate in cybersecurity research with distinguished research faculty mentors who voluntarily provide their mentorship for campers. This summer camp focuses on recruiting the UNiSEC undergraduates.
Detailed Description:
When: June 14 – August 6, 2021 (8 weeks)
Targeted Students: UNiSEC Undergraduate Students in the USA
Goal: A Team-based project advised by one faculty mentor.
Summer Scholarship: $2,000 per student ( Note that this stipend will be given when you finish the summer camp by August 6, 2021. If a student does not participate in any camp activity, you cannot receive this stipend.)

Benefits:
- A student will gain experience in cybersecurity research with hands-on experience.
- Students will receive mentoring from experienced research faculty.
- Students will be informed about graduate schools and financial opportunities such as fellowships, scholarships, and assistantships to support graduate education.
- Students will receive $2,000 as a stipend.
- All summer camp participants will receive free guest conference tickets for SVCC (Silicon Valley Cybersecurity Conference) 2021 in the Fall of 2021. Here is the SVCC 2020 website for the last year for reference: http://svcc2020.svcsi.org/
Eligibility:
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident of the United States (Students from underrepresented minority groups and women are strongly encouraged to apply)
- You must be a full-time undergraduate student.
- You are not graduating before December 2021.
- Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
Requirement:
- Time Commitment: 15 hours per week during the 8 weeks
- Students must attend weekly meetings with their faculty mentor and report progress
- Students must attend weekly research seminars
- Students must currently study CS-related majors like data science, AI, information science, etc.
- All campers must attend the opening meeting on the first day of the summer camp on 6/14/2021 at 6 p.m.
- The research seminars every Monday will be conducted by our faculty mentors and industry guest speakers. We will announce the seminar agenda by the end of May.
- Campers need to be available during the two weeks at 6-9 p.m. from June 14, 2021, to June 25, 2021, due to programming and machine learning tutorial sessions. However, if you are an expert in Python, you can skip the session of June 14, 2021 – June 18, 2021.
- We also encourage you to submit your research paper to SVCC 2021. (The paper author registration fee is required due to Open Access Publication, which is the paper processing fee for Springer Publisher.)
